The Veritas RS III Roadster super sports car, which has been presented to the public as a prototype over the past year and which immediately won the public award of “Best Super Car 2009” at London’s Salon Privé, is now going into series production. However, the words “series production” are not entirely true. Firstly, the series comprises a strictly limited batch of only 30 vehicles and secondly, every single vehicle will undergo sophisticated hand production by manufacturer Vermot AG in Gelsdorf.

Even before the actual start of production, five of the 30 luxury cars have already been sold – to Monaco, Australia, Great Britain, Spain and Switzerland. Eight more are reserved and over 100 enquiries have been received. In Gelsdorf, it is therefore expected that the entire edition will have sold out even before the end of the year.

The manufacturer’s 15 staff install the chassis, bodywork and interior at three workstations. The production of one of the classic 1+1-seaters – with a covered passenger seat that can be opened if required – takes eight weeks, although three cars are built in parallel at one time. Production runs according to the strictest “Made in Germany” quality standards. Furthermore, the vehicles are fully homologated to EU standard. Delivery to the customers will start in January 2010.

“Even at first sight, the Veritas RS III convinces customers with a design that combines futuristic and classical elements and thereby produces an unmistakable overall impression,” says Vermot AG chief designer Michael Söhngen. “In the end, what counts for the design of a good sports car are the proportions and we have placed great emphasis on these,” Söhngen continues. The typical shark’s mouth and aggressive looking Xenon twin headlights, tapered inward-contoured side sills, and the flat tail with the two central stainless steel tailpipes pointing upward contrast with the asymmetric roll bar integrated into the bodywork on the driver’s side. A rear-view mirror extending into the centre of the vehicle, riveted or chrome-plated bodywork elements, and the distinctive jagged taillights emphasise the exceptional design concept.

The Dunlop tyres – 325/25 at the rear and 255/30 at the front – and the 12.5 and 10.5 inch wide, 22-inch, five-point star, drop centre rims – as well as the extremely low vehicle height of only 97 cm – ensure a firm hold on the road. All this comes with a height-adjustable special sports chassis tested on the north loop of the Nürburgring, as lovers of this untamed bolide generally appreciate that “true race feeling”. Slightly more cautious drivers can, however, engage ABS and TCS.

The technical specifications are a testament to the high demands. The new Veritas, of which the legendary predecessors celebrated numerous racing successes in the 50s and were the first German team to take part in Formula I, nowaccelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.2 seconds – this alone will make the hearts of automobile enthusiasts beat faster. The 4.68 metre long and 2.02 metre wide monster, which has already made a splash in Monte Carlo, in Spa, and on the “ring” is powered by a 5.0 litre V10 BMW engine with 7-speed SMG transmission or – optionally – with manual 6-speed transmission. With an engine speed of 7,500 rpm and a power-weight ratio of 2.9 kg/kW, the RS III achieves a top performance of 373 kW (507 hp) and thus a top speed of 347 km/h.

The complete bodywork comprises an ultra-light carbon racing skin and is produced in a Formula I forge. In addition to the 4-point H-type seatbelts, a tube frame developed by the Vermot AG engineers guarantees occupants the highest level of passive safety on their modified Recaro full bucket seats. A new braking system from Brabham Racing provides for deceleration: six 380 mm pistons at the front and four 355 mm pistons at the back forcefully slow the entire weight before the ceramic disk brakes abruptly bring the wheels to a standstill – until the next kick start.

Extensive test drives were conducted a few days ago at the legendary Brands Hatch racetrack in Great Britain. “It is now about constantly improving the car and finding the optimum fine tuning. Brands Hatch was a complete success and we are very happy with the result,” says Vermot AG CEO Michael Trick. Initial customer test drives have also been conducted in the context of the track days – an illustrious rendezvous of customers and potential buyers, who have met on the racetrack in England and showed themselves to be thoroughly impressed.

Kia Motors Corporation has unveiled the first official picture and export market name of the production version of its KND-5 concept car – an all-new sedan designed to satisfy drivers’ desire for refinement, safety and emotional satisfaction by creating ‘ideal’ driving conditions.

The stylish luxury sedan, which is to be called ‘Cadenza’ in markets outside of Korea, will make its overseas premiere at the Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Dubai international motor shows, towards the end of the year.

The Cadenza name is derived from an Italian musical term used to describe an elaborate, ornamental flourish for a concerto or aria. It perfectly symbolizes the dynamic sedan’s striking design philosophy and upscale image.

Sporty and sleek in appearance, Cadenza features a bold headlamp design with attention-grabbing LED surrounds and a purposeful, athletic character line. The prominent front grille and stylish taillights emphasize the car’s high-tech feel and are a continuing expression of Kia's dramatic design DNA.

On the inside, there is a futuristic ‘floating’ dashboard that highlights Kia’s uniquely innovative design approach. The welcome system turns on the exterior puddle and interior lights to ‘greet’ the car owner, while the interior mood lighting strip, which runs along the dashboard to the door trim, creates a warm atmosphere within the vehicle.

Kia Cadenza’s dynamic design and driving performance, allied with a raft of competitive passenger-friendly high-tech features, will make it a leader in the large, luxury sedan market segment.

Available new technologies will include a heated steering wheel (for winter driving in cold markets), powered extendable seat cushions (for extra thigh support), automatic defogging of the windshield and ventilated front seats (for cool comfort in hot markets).

Soon-Nam Lee, Director of the Overseas Marketing Group, Kia Motors Corporation, said, “New Cadenza will showcase the continuing evolution in Kia’s striking design language through the harmonious blend of light and lines. It will also present a new concept in luxury sedans in terms of performance and technology.”

8 октября в рамках работы комиссии Правительства РФ по развитию российского автопрома АВТОВАЗ посетила делегация во главе с Игорем ШУВАЛОВЫМ.

В состав делегации также вошли заместитель генерального директора ГК ''Ростехнологии'' Игорь ЗАВЬЯЛОВ и губернатор Самарской области Владимир АРТЯКОВ.

Руководство АВТОВАЗа и члены делегации обсудили ситуацию на предприятии и в Тольятти; провели встречи с ветеранами производства, группой рабочих и представителями профсоюза ОАО ''АВТОВАЗ''; посетили один из цехов механосборочного производства, где организованы временные работы по расчистке помещений для установки нового оборудования; ознакомились с работой главного конвейера АВТОВАЗа; увидели сборку автомобилей LADA KALINA, посетили Научно-технический центр, медсанчасть компании и машиностроительный техникум.

''На предстоящей неделе нам вместе предстоит разработать программы занятости для тех людей, которые покидают АВТОВАЗ, и нам самым активным образом придется работать до самого Нового года вместе с Ростехнологиями и Renault для того, чтобы переходить к окончательным решениям по технологическому перевооружению и модернизации производства на АВТОВАЗе'', – сказал Игорь ШУВАЛОВ.

Как отметил губернатор Самарской области Владимир АРТЯКОВ, ''для нас очень важно сохранить завод, а для этого нужно провести его модернизацию и запустить новое технологическое оборудование. Кризис закончится, и предприятию снова понадобятся квалифицированные кадры. Поэтому эти кадры мы должны сейчас сохранить''.

Накануне в Тольятти прибыла комиссия специалистов Минздравсоцразвития, Роструда и Федерального медико-биологического агентства для изучения различных социальных аспектов деятельности АВТОВАЗа.

В рамках поездки в Тольятти представители комиссии рассмотрят вопрос по освобождению АВТОВАЗа от непрофильных активов социальной сферы. В частности, специалистам Федерального медико-биологического агентства предстоит принять решение относительно возможной передачи медсанчасти АВТОВАЗа в федеральную собственность.

По словам Игоря ШУВАЛОВА, ''к настоящему времени мы пришли к выводу, что 17 объектов мы можем принять в различные уровни власти, и это будет стоить 1,8 млрд. рублей. Эта работа еще не закончена, и нам надо посмотреть на все учреждения, которые есть на балансе АВТОВАЗа''.

АВТОВАЗ поставил на экспорт первые универсалы семейства LADA PRIORA, выпуск которых завод начал в конце мая нынешнего года. Эти автомобили поступят на внешние рынки под обозначением LADA 2171.

Первые 36 универсалов семейства, популярного как в России, так и за ее пределами, отправлены в Казахстан и Молдову. До конца октября в страны ближнего зарубежья будет поставлено 275 автомобилей LADA 2171.

Также в сентябре АВТОВАЗ отгрузил на внешние рынки модернизированные внедорожники LADA 4X4. Получателями этих автомобилей стали импортеры в Сербии, Беларуси, Молдове, Азербайджане и Туркмении. До конца октября АВТОВАЗ планирует экспортировать 180 внедорожников LADA 4X4.

Всего за 8 месяцев нынешнего года АВТОВАЗ отправил на внешние рынки 22,2 тысячи автомобилей LADA. Из них 3,2 тысячи составили седаны и хэтчбеки семейства LADA PRIORA (экспортное обозначение LADA 2170 и LADA 2172), 5,3 тысячи √ внедорожники LADA 4X4.

Пилот команды LADA SPORT Джеймс Томпсон, выступающий на спортивном автомобиле LADA PRIORA, добился лучших результатов в истории команды, дважды заняв 6-е место на десятом этапе WTCC в Имоле (Италия). По результатам двух заездов Джеймс Томпсон получил 6 очков в личном зачете. Это первые очки пилотов команды LADA SPORT в кузовном Чемпионате мира 2009.

Стартовавшему с четырнадцатой позиции в первом заезде Джеймсу Томпсону на LADA PRIORA удалось выйти без существенных потерь из большой аварии с участием нескольких машин в самом начале гонки. Выдержав жесткую борьбу с конкурентами по чемпионату, пилот команды АВТОВАЗа привел свой автомобиль на финиш шестым.

Другой гонщик LADA SPORT Кирилл Ладыгин завершил гонку на четырнадцатом месте. Шедший на девятой позиции Яап Ван Лаген сошел с трассы в результате аварии и уже не смог принять участие во второй гонке.

Успех Джеймса Томпсона и спорткара LADA PRIORA на легендарном автодроме имени Энцо и Дино Феррари стал сенсацией. Британский пилот был назван главным героем первого заезда и сумел подтвердить это, повторив высокое достижение по итогам второй гонки. Два шестых места в рамках одного уикэнда свидетельствуют как о высоком потенциале автомобиля LADA PRIORA, так и о мастерстве гонщиков и четкой, профессиональной работе команды.
